Q: How much does it cost to use FrozenPools?
A: Its free!
Q: Do I need to create another user name and password to use FrozenPools?
A: One of our biggest hassles with most draft websites is remembering a username and password for the site. At FrozenPools, we let a user use an existing Facebook, mail, Gmail, Yahoo and Blogger to login. We feel this will be more secure and easier for the users. If you dont have an account, at this time, this is the only way to sign in.
Q: Is FrozenPools secure? If I sign in using my Gmail (for example) does this give FrozenPools my password?
A: FrozenPools uses a product called Janrain Engage (formerly RPX Now). It is also used by companies like Fox News, National Geographic and PayPal. It does not let us know your user name or password.
Q: How often are the stats updated?
A: Stats are updated daily at 4am MST.
Q: What is the email notification service?
A: This feature is the ladder drafts only. It will notify a user when it is there turn to draft and the next pick after that they are "on deck".
Q: What is a public vs a private draft?
A: A public draft is a draft that anyone can join. A private draft is one that is intended soley for you and your friends. A private draft is protected by a entry code by default to prevent anyone from joining. A public draft is great for large draft hosted by a restaurant, bar, company or for any passionate fan looking to challenge his knowledge against other fans.
Note that featured public drafts are the only ones shown on the homepage. To be a feature draft or for more information, email email@example.com
Q: Does FrozenPools support trades and roster transactions?
A: Yes. There is functionality for online trades and transactions. There are also management screens to edit team rosters.
Q: What size should my avatars be? How come the image doesn't change?
A: The avatars should be approxately 260x200 pixels. They can be bigger but are scaled down. Sometimes a web browser will cache the old avatar so you need to hit refresh. We will have a fix for this shortly.
Q: How are goaltender wins/losses calculated?
A: Goaltenders are given a win for a game that they played in that the team won. Same with loss. If multiple goaltenders played in a game, FrozenPools does not currently determine which goaltender gets the win or loss - they both would. Note: as of the 2005-06 season, a goalie is credited with a loss only if the game is lost in regulation. This is why FrozenPools doesn't have a "points per overtime loss" option.
Q: Does FrozenPools support keep leagues?
A: The short answer is currently no. However, we do have a copy draft feature that will copy a draft from a previous season. This is something that will be worked on during the 2010-2011 season.
Q: Is it possible to display the draft standings on my website?
A: Yes. We recently built a widget to support this. To add the standings, add the following snippet to your website.
